LOID: Not Even the Russians Are Supporting Putin

Updated: Aug 21, 2022

WORLD WAR THREE IS UPON US EVERYBODY! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!

Well, maybe not, but one would believe as much from reading or watching the news as of late. Russia recently decided to invade Ukraine, and, well, Ukrainians are definitely not giving any ground. Eighty year old men are trying to enlist in the military. Russian warships can “go f***” themselves. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, unlike certain other world leaders, is not afraid to take charge and risk even his own life for his country.

But the thing is, Ukraine is not just fighting by itself. No one likes Putin, not even his own people. Now, one might suppose that those of a certain country would support their fatherland in most endeavors, especially a certain invasion that would make their fatherland more powerful. But it really looks like Putin is just about the only one in all of Russia who supports the invasion of Ukraine. The Associated Press reports that

“From Moscow to Siberia, Russian anti-war activists took to the streets again Sunday to protest Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, despite the arrests of hundreds of protesters each day by police.

Demonstrators held pickets and marched in city centers, chanting “No to war!” as President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian nuclear deterrent to be put on high alert, upping the ante in the Kremlin’s standoff with the West and stoking fears of a nuclear war.”

Star Russian tennis players such as Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev also both took a “no war” stance, the latter writing “No war please” on a camera after he won a match.

Russian troops don’t even seem to know why they’re in Ukraine! Putin has seemed to throw together a hasty invasion of a country he thought would be as easy to take over as stealing candy from a baby. And he’s not happy about his miscalculation either. It’s like Putin is on a shopping spree, spending lavish amounts of money when none of his own people are happy with him. And ain’t that the definition of a totalitarian dictator? Masquerading as a conqueror for the people, when really he is only making stupid decisions that cannot, and will not end well.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was a dumb idea. No one supports him. Let’s just hope that world leaders don’t also make fools of themselves by sitting by and doing nothing while Ukrainians suffer.
