My word, does no one in America even have respect for the Constitution anymore? Is there anyone who has respect for fair processes and refuses to cave to the mentality of “if I didn’t win the election, it was rigged”? On the right and the left, America is succumbing to a totalitarian ideology, and it will end up destroying us if we aren’t careful to stop its spread and remember to love freedom.
I may never have been as disappointed in former President Trump as I was earlier this week, and I have voiced my concerns and problems with the man before on no uncertain terms. Trump posted this to Twitter-copycat Truth Social on December third:
“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great “Founders” did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”
No, “a massive fraud of this type and magnitude” certainly does not “allow for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.” Here are the facts of the situation Mr. Trump is complaining about:
Twitter was found to be collaborating with the Biden campaign to take down tweets concerning Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings.
Twitter also cooperated with the Trump White House to take down certain content.
Trump is upset because he feels that Twitter and other tech companies unfairly influenced the election, which may be true, as I am sure they did cast President Biden as the more desirable candidate. However, this is not to say that Twitter actively meddled in the election. The reality is, the free flow of information still exists in this country, even on the internet. It exists on sites like Truth Social. It exists on sites like CNN and Fox News, both of which are free presses with their own political slants. Therefore, it is not fair to say that just because one platform censored information, a whole election was rigged. Twitter hiding a certain story about Hunter Biden may be something that shouldn’t have happened, was unfairly biased to the Biden campaign, and is morally detestable, but it does not equate to there being a rigged election, and it certainly is not a warrant to throw out the most authoritative document in American law. The Constitution deserves far more respect than either the left or the right give it. It has preserved America for over two-hundred years. It has kept speech free, it has kept guns in the hands of the average man, and it has granted freedoms to Americans that so much of the world does not have. To say that it is just to ignore it and reinstate Trump as President over a few suspicious election circumstances and a biased social media platform would be like tearing down a great skyscraper because one of the windows shattered.
America is a far greater nation than we give it credit for. Because of the Constitution it has avoided the sting of totalitarianism. To ignore it would be to open ourselves up to a form of dictatorship. Even if Trump was a good president and even if it is preferable that he becomes president again, freedom is far more important than the feelings of one whiny man who is a sore loser. The right has thrown away the Constitution for their own political agenda just as the left has. While the right’s viewpoints are, of course, more Constitutionally sound, their methods of achieving them have become just as messed up as the left’s.
Trump is simply a twerp, a bumbling idiot. He has no respect for the greatest governmental document to exist, but rather respects himself and himself only.
And as for Twitter, their hands are far from clean. Thanks to Elon Musk, the internet has taken bounds and leaps towards free speech, but for the longest time, Twitter was a traitor to the Constitution as well. Free speech does not mean all speech that is not hate speech, or all speech that is not misinformation, it is all speech, whether you or I like it or not. And Musk understands that. Unfortunately, most modern social media companies equate free speech to whatever they deem to be acceptable to say. And Twitter and the Trump White House and the Biden Campaign have shown that they both approve of censorship of opinions they disapprove of. They are all traitors to the Constitution. The Trump White House and President Joe “Unity” Biden are not the solutions to the problem of restricted speech, they are not leading us towards a more ideal standard of unrestricted speculation and discussion, they are part of the problem, and they are taking America with them.
While it is early on in Twitter’s remaking process, I hope and pray that Elon Musk stays strong in the fight for freedom of speech. It is truly the most valuable of our rights, it is the one right we cannot lose. If you lose freedom of speech, you can lose freedom of religion and freedom of expression, you can lose the freedom to follow your own viewpoint. And since the world now communicates through the internet, the gatekeepers of speech are no longer the government so much as they are the social media companies–at least for the time being. It is a great thing that Elon Musk is attempting to do: restore a level of fairness and freedom to one of the most used social media platforms in the modern day. Let us all pray that he is not only successful, but that the changes he brings to Twitter last and provide an outlet for we conservative undesirables to share our opinion without fear of censorship or punishment. After all, that’s what America is about.
